Using Community Informatics to enhance Public Health

Community and Economic Development Services:

• To develop and implement Community Initiatives for neighborhood and/or groups.

• To provide technical and consultant services to assist neighborhood and/or groups with activities including, but not limited to asset mapping, facilitation of community/town hall meetings, and community outreach and administrative services.  

• To provide assistance with identifying solutions to human service needs through cooperation with volunteers and block clubs. 

• To utilize and develop viable, research-based community planning approaches/methodologies to build capacity and sustain neighborhood and/or group interests.

Community Informatics and Social Media Services:

• To develop an interactive technology infrastructure that actively engages Community in the process of raising its awareness, understanding, and utilization of emerging technologies.        

• To utilize and develop viable, research-based approaches/methodologies to integrating technology into communities in a manner that empowers Community to obtain the resources need to be globally competitive knowledge workers.  

• To assist in a seamless transformation of Community into an educational environment that cultivates life-long leaner utilizing interactive simulation and digital game-based learning. 

Social Services:

• To empower under served neighborhoods by assisting residents to identify and prioritize needs of the community.

• To enable residents to define those services, which will provide for their health, economic self-sufficiency, well being, and safety.        

• To utilize and develop viable, research-based approaches/methodologies to empower residents to actively engage in solving social challenges unique to their neighborhood.

Social Justice Services:

• To develop programming focused on developing a support system for families that focuses on maintaining the family unit. Individual and/or a family unit defines family.  

• To consistently and continuously build strong relationship with Community that encourages and sustain family and individual self-efficacy.        

• To utilize and develop viable, research-based approaches/methodologies the strengthen the resource and networks for promoting connectedness to Community by removing the barriers with the legal system.
